Gregorian chant was one of the great cultural achievements of the High Middle Ages. A period when Europe was more united (or at least, less divided) than pretty much ever before or since. A time when our people were locked in a life and death struggle to preserve Christendom – and neither feare what they faced nor apologise for standing up to fight for their faith.
