There was speculation that America’s Supreme Court might take up a case against Maryland’s “assault weapons” ban, and we finally know the Supreme Court’s decision, at least for now.
On May 20, the Supreme Court officially declined to take up the case, as it is still moving through the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Bloomberg reported that “The Maryland case was unusual because gun-rights advocates were seeking Supreme Court review even though the 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals hasn’t yet ruled.”
Reuters published that Supreme Court refused the request after plaintiffs “asked the Supreme Court to decide the legality of the ban before the Richmond, Virginia-based 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issues a ruling in the case.”
For those interested in learning more about the case, it is Bianchi v. Brown, No. 23-863 in the Supreme Court of the United States.
Do you think the Supreme Court will ever end up taking this case?
