Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg may have a real problem on his hands.
Not much of it is being made by the media now, and it may honestly not impact the jury in the trial.
However, it will add more ammo to an appeal if Trump loses this case when it goes to the jury.
Just Delete It All
One of Bragg’s paralegals dropped a bit of a bombshell on the court.
Jaden Jarmel-Schneider has confirmed that some of the call logs that were used during the investigation have been deleted.
This means those logs were never turned over to the defense, which could violate discovery rules.
Don’t expect Judge Merchan to do anything about it, as he seems programmed to shoot down just about any motion that comes from the Trump camp, but this could really be a problem.
The logs in question are related to calls on Michael Cohen’s phone while discussing the hush-money payments and catch-and-kill story.
At one point, Cohen had a call that was abruptly ended.
The AP report explained, “Records show Cohen received a phone call about 22 seconds after the recording was cut off, according to Jarmel-Schneider’s testimony.
“Prosecutors seem to be eliciting the testimony to back up their claim that the recording wasn’t edited, but was cut short after Cohen received an incoming call.”
Will this impact the jury or judge in the courtroom?
Again, probably not, but Trump sure does have a lot of ammunition he can now fire during his appeal if he loses.
