PREFACE
So, today I’m here, I’m warm, I’m alive. I’m in my home, my things, collected over the years, surround me. My family is here, my wife, my dog, my cat. My car’s in the garage, I can take it and go. The ocean is close by, some old friends too. I’m alive and, if you’re reading this, so are you.
Of course, I know what the future will bring; it brings an end, to me, to you and to all living things. The absolute certainty of not being haunts us all. The fear of not being cannot be swept under the rug. We have our time and then, we’re out of time! Even the Greenland shark, after 400 years, becomes no more. So, enjoy your morning coffee and think about it, don’t hide pretending you’re different, that some miracle will save you- it won’t!
This book presents a discussion of life on many levels, spiritual, physical, mental and emotional, a philosophic mussing on fate. We’re here and then were not. We have our time, as the Bard said in Macbeth, Act V, Scene 5 “to strut and fret our hour upon the stage, and then, we’re heard no more, a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing!”
Of course, some do leave their mark, they scribble names and dates on dungeon walls, they leave a hand print in an ancient cave. Some leave their art, their books, and their paintings. Some change everything, some for the worse, some not. Paleontologists, archeologists and diggers of the long dead unearth bones of those long gone, exposing to the light of day what once was, warm, and alive! I wonder, do these diggers of the dead understand that one day diggers from some future time might also exhume them? I’d guess not…
So, what is it all about, this thing called life? Is it just a facade, a huge TRUMAN SHOW? Get prepared, were going to find out?
