Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s prosecution of former President Donald Trump ran into trouble this week after even liberal journalists began to question the credibility of star witness Michael Cohen.
Yet as Breitbart noted, Trump said in a social media post that Bragg will nevertheless push forward out of deference to those who paid for his campaign.Â
Trump says Bragg “owes so much” to left-wing backers
“People are thinking that Soros backed D.A., Alvin Bragg, who never wanted to bring the Witch Hunt against me in the first place, is going to drop this ridiculous and very unpatriotic ‘CASE’ in order to save lots of money, and also the self respect of his once revered Office,” he wrote on Thursday.
“He would then be able to focus on Violent Crime, which is running rampant and totally out of control in New York,” the former president continued.
“The dilemma is, and always has been, the Trump Hating (APPOINTED IN 2009 & STILL ACTING!) Judge, Juan Merchan, who would be confronted with the problem of how he would explain this TRUMP loss, to the Radical Left Democrats, to whom he owes so much?” Trump went on to argue.
Bragg received funding from Soros family
Fox News reported last year that Bragg’s campaign was supported by the Color of Change PAC, which received a $1 million donation from left-wing billionaire George Soros.
What’s more, Soro’s son, Jonathan Soros, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Allan Soros both made personal contributions to the district attorney.
Fox News also pointed out that in addition to funding Bragg, Soros also backed a number of other far-left prosecutors.
These included Larry Krasner in Philadelphia, Kim Foxx in Chicago, Kim Gardner in St. Louis, and George Gascón in Los Angeles.
Former attorney accuses Michael Cohen of lying
Meanwhile, Cohen’s former advisor and attorney Robert Costello told “The Brian Kilmeade Show” on Saturday that Bragg’s case against Trump “is dead.”
“There’s nothing that I know about this case that could give the prosecution more life,” Costello insisted. “It was dead on arrival.”
“It never should have been brought. It should have been dismissed by this judge. He still has an opportunity to do that, but I doubt very much he will do that,” Costello added.
Those remarks came after Costello testified to lawmakers on Capitol Hill that Cohen lied on the witness stand in Trump’s trial.
