Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) took a cheap shot at several of his fellow Republicans who showed up at the Stormy Daniels “hush money” trial to support former President Donald J. Trump.
The presumptive GOP nominee is being railroad by a corrupt process presided over by a partisan judge who has stripped him of the ability to defend himself against the prosecution’s slimy star witnesses, and on Monday, Speaker Mike Johnson was joined by others in denouncing the outrageous lawfare.
One Republican who wasn’t at the New York City courthouse was the sanctimonious fussbudget Romney, who on Tuesday insulted members of his own team to CNN at the U.S. Capitol.
“I think it’s a little demeaning to show up in front of a courthouse, and particularly one where we’re talking about an allegation of paying a porn star. It’s really, really very difficult to watch,” Pierre Delecto told reporters who caught up with him before a Senate Foreign Relations Committee meeting on Tuesday.

“There’s a level of dignity and decorum that you expect the people who are running for the highest station in the land, and going out and prostrating themselves in front of the public to try and, apparently, curry favor with the person who’s our nominee is embarrassing,” he said, according to CNN reporter Manu Raju who posted Romney’s comments to X, previously known as Twitter.

This is the fifth week that President Trump has been in court for this sham of a trial. They are doing this intentionally to keep him here and keep him off of the campaign trail. I think everybody in the country can see that for what it is,” Johnson said “The people are losing faith right now, in this country, in our institutions. They are losing faith in our system of justice. And the reason for that is because they see it being abused, as it is being done here in New York.“
Also appearing in Manhattan were Senators J.D. Vance (R-OH), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), and Rick Scott (R-FL) who was there last week. Reps. Byron Donalds (R-FL), Cory Mills (R-FL) and Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) defended the unfairly persecuted Trump as well, along with two who have been mentioned as possible running mates, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, and former candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
All of them were smeared by Romney, who has never been accused of being a team player.
The failed GOP presidential candidate also took a shot at both Trump and Joe Biden who just agreed to a pair of debates.
Romney said it will be “informative and entertaining, like the two old guys on the Muppets.”

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. The 77-year-old former governor of ultra-liberal Massachusetts has been something of a Muppet himself during his political career, at least the part of it when he’s foisted himself off as a conservative.
Romney has announced that he’ll soon be retiring from the Senate and the media will be sad to see him go.
