A government climate scientist shocked the internet after he candidly disclosed the underlying motive of numerous radical environmental activists in their quest to safeguard the planet: the deliberate reduction of the human population.
Bill McGuire, a Professor specializing in Geophysical & Climate Hazards at University College London (UCL), took to X on Sunday to express his concern over the sluggish decline of carbon emissions.
He proposed a drastic solution to address the “climate crisis,” advocating for a deadly pandemic to swiftly diminish large portions of the human populace, the Gateway Pundit’s Cullen Linebarger reported.
“If I am brutally honest, the only realistic way I see emissions falling as fast as they need to, to avoid catastrophic #climate breakdown, is the culling of the human population by a pandemic with a very high fatality rate,” he said.
McGuire promptly removed his post following a surge of criticism from social media users. However, the internet kept receipts.
He then claimed his words were being intentionally distorted, which was also ripped apart by social media users who called the professor a liar.
“RIGHT, I AM DELETING THE INITIAL TWEET NOW. NOT BECAUSE I REGRET IT, BUT BECAUSE SO MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE HAVE MISTAKENLY, OR INTENTIONALLY, TAKEN IT THE WRONG WAY,” McGuire blurted in a follow up post on X accompanied with an image of a stop sign that read, “enough is enough already.”
X users swiftly blasted McGuire for his walk back. “No, nobody took it the wrong way. It was crystal clear,” stated one user.
“You believe that the best way to ‘save the planet’ is to reduce the human population, but you don’t want to volunteer to go first and lead by your own example because you think your existence is superior to everyone else,” the user continued.
“And to the folks reading this, academic institutions you send your children to for a higher education are infested with dangerous people with this mentality. They hate you,” he added as other users echoed his response to McGuire’s now deleted comments.
One user mocked: “You fools didn’t understand that I want the majority of you to die in the nicest way possible!” to which another chimed to pile with a reply that said, “If half the people on Earth die suddenly we can avoid catastrophe!”
McGuire then tried to flip the narrative following the backlash by asserting that his initial post centered on declining economic activity, despite it unmistakably alluding to a pandemic wiping out humanity.
The National Pulse highlighted that McGuire’s notoriety stems from his involvement in a British governmental entity tasked with advising policy makers during the COVID-19 crisis.
He also co-authored a pivotal report for the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), renowned for its significant influence on global climate policy, according to the outlet.
Linebarger noted that McGuire’s advocacy for extreme measures to address global challenges aligns with a broader trend among some leftist figures.
Jane Goodall, a prominent advocate for animal rights, for example, once suggested reducing the world’s population to levels observed 500 years ago.
A professor at the University of Texas similarly proposed a drastic plan advocating for the elimination of 90 percent of the global population to safeguard the environment, per Reason.
