Criminal coddling Democrats made a statement about which side they’re on when leftist House members voted against a bill to deport illegal aliens who assault police officers.
While the “Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens Who Assault Cops Act” passed, an overwhelming majority of the Democrat caucus voted to protect foreign criminals with 148 lawmakers choosing to burnish their credentials of being anti-cop and pro-open borders instead of doing the decent thing to remove violent offenders from the country.

The bill which passed the House by a 265 to 148 was one of several anti-crime pieces of legislation that Republicans have introduced to mark National Police Week, a time to honor those who risk their lives to protect the innocent and to remember those in uniform who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
“This National Police Week, House Republicans will counteract the Democrats’ pro-crime anti-police agenda by bringing seven bills to the floor that support our nation’s law enforcement and give them the resources they need to keep our communities safe,” GOP House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) said.
A paltry 54 Democrats broke party lines to vote with Republicans, a sad testament to the cop-hating nature of the modern Democratic party.
“Today, Democrats had a choice between standing up for our law enforcement or standing with illegal immigrants,” wrote Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) on X. “Unsurprisingly, they chose illegal immigrants.”
“There is no reason that an illegal alien who attacks our law enforcement should remain in our country; that shows zero respect for our rule of law or our institutions, and they will not be positive contributors to society,” Van Drew said when the bill was introduced in February.
The bill would “create a new category for migrant inadmissibility” specifically dealing with illegal immigrants who were accused of assaulting police, Rep. Van Drew said of the legislation which would require criminal illegals to be held by federal authorities until they are sent back to where they came from.
“148 House Democrats just voted against detaining and deporting illegal immigrants who assault law enforcement officers,” said Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA). “They’re putting violent illegals over American police officers trying to protect our communities. Outrageous.”

Other Republicans blasted Democrats after the shameful vote.
Tonight, 148 Democrats voted against detaining and deporting illegal aliens who assault law enforcement officers.
Democrats would rather protect illegal aliens than protect the men and women who courageously serve our communities.

During National Police Week, they’d rather protect illegal criminals over the safety of our brave men and women in blue.
Disgraceful.

148 Democrats just voted against ensuring that illegal aliens who assault law enforcement officers are quickly arrested and detained by ICE until they are removed from the United States.
Democrats continue to prioritize protecting illegal aliens over the safety of the American…

“House Democrats just voted to protect violent illegal immigrants over our brave law enforcement officers. Once again, the Democrat Party proves they are the most anti-law enforcement party in history,” Emmer told Fox News Digital.
“What we’re seeing from the Republican conference are a series of messaging bills on a variety of topics, none of which are going to pass the U.S. Senate,” said Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) who was among Democrats who voted in favor of illegals who attack police.
The bill faces an uncertain future in the Democrat-controlled Senate and President Joe Biden would almost certainly veto it if it passes the upper chamber.
