“Wokeness” destroys everything it touches.
Comedy especially has been hampered by far-left radicals.
And Jerry Seinfeld was stunned when this event he showed up at went completely off the rails.
Jerry Seinfeld was one of the first comedians to notice the “woke” movement taking over college campuses.
Back in 2015, he said during an interview, “I don’t play colleges, but I hear a lot of people tell me, ‘Don’t go near colleges. They’re so PC.’ I’ll give you an example: My daughter’s 14. My wife says to her, ‘Well, you know, in the next couple years, I think maybe you’re going to want to be hanging around the city more on the weekends, so you can see boys.’ You know what my daughter says? She says, ‘That’s sexist.’ They just want to use these words: ‘That’s racist’; ‘That’s sexist’; ‘That’s prejudice.’ They don’t know what they’re talking about.”
PC is back
The political correctness movement of the late 1980s and early ‘90s came back with a vengeance in the form of “wokeness,” and it has spiraled out of control.
Seinfeld served as the commencement speaker at Duke University, and many students walked out of the ceremony as he made his way to the stage.

During his speech, Seinfeld said, “After spending four years at what is considered one of the finest institutions of higher education in the world, they apparently feel that perhaps some light entertainment will get you all to the final realization, ‘You know, I think I’ve really had enough of this place.’”
The students seemingly were protesting the war in Gaza, but Seinfeld himself might have been the target of the protest because he has recently spoken out forcefully against “woke” indoctrination on the far-left.
Seinfeld has had enough
During a recent interview with The New Yorker, Seinfeld said, “They need [comedy] so badly and they don’t get it. It used to be, you would go home at the end of the day, most people would go, ‘Oh, Cheers is on. Oh, M*A*S*H is on. Oh, Mary Tyler Moore is on. All in the Family is on.’ You just expected, there’ll be some funny stuff we can watch on TV tonight.”
The number of sitcoms has been greatly diminished.
Seinfeld added, “Well, guess what — where is it? This is the result of the extreme left and P.C. crap and people worrying so much about offending other people.”
The comedian tapped into the frustration that average Americans are feeling.
Annie Ramos, one of the parents at the Duke commencement, told a reporter, “I feel like they’re ruining it for those of us who paid for tickets and came to show our pride for our graduates.”
Obviously, the protesters do not care.
“There’s a time and a place, and this is not it,” Ramos added.
However, the backlash to “woke” outrage is growing.
Comedians like Shane Gillis and Tim Dillon who refused to bend the knee to the mob have thrived outside the reach of the gatekeepers.
Gillis, who was fired from his dream job as a cast member on Saturday Night Live because of unearthed off-color jokes during a podcast, came full circle and was invited back as a guest host.
The radicals on the Left are actively driving people away.
