Trump Tells Massive Crowd: “Day One” Executive Order Will Target Offshore Wind To Save Whales
- Former President Trump revealed at a large rally on Saturday evening in Wildwood, New Jersey, that if re-elected, he would sign an executive order on his first day in office to address offshore wind development along the East Coast.
- Trump told a crowd of thousands that windmills are killing whales and fish. He pointed out that only a small number of whales died before wind farm developments, but now, whales are dying “all the time.”
- “We are going to make sure that that ends on day one,” he said, adding, “I’m going to write it out in an executive order.”
- Trump has said before, “Windmills are causing whales to die in numbers never seen before.” He made that comment at a campaign rally in South Carolina in 2023.
- “They’re washing up ashore. I saw it this weekend, three of them came up. You wouldn’t see it once a year. Now they’re coming up on a weekly basis,” he continued.
- Trump is correct. Since 2016, or around the time offshore wind development began to ramp up, there has been a noticeable uptick in whale deaths along the East Coast.
- Data from NOAA Fisheries shows humpback whale strandings from Maine to Florida have surged post-2016.
Meanwhile, New Jersey has been on a quest to distinguish itself as the top offshore wind state on the east coast. The Garden State has approved three offshore wind farms and is soliciting more requests.

- An emissions reduction program by an environmental regulator will lead to a 50-cent per gallon of gasoline increase, according to a report by a state environment regulator.
- Last year the California Air Resources Board (CARB) said gas prices would increase by 50 cents next year and every year after in order to reduce emissions.
- This is in addition to California’s existing gas tax!
- “The middle class, the low income, they can’t afford gas to go to school, work or grocery or the doctor’s office,” Janet Nguyen told Fox Business. “No one knows about this. I think people just think it’s a tax, so they don’t know the difference between the carbon tax versus the state tax. It’s almost like a tax on the tax.”

- The popular video-sharing platform Rumble is suing Google for over $1 billion for illegally leveraging its technological dominance against its ability to compete as an ad tech competitor.
- The lawsuit, filed in the Northern District of California, alleges that Google has abused its position to deprive Rumble of billions in ad revenue.
- The complaint reads:
Google exploits significant conflicts of interest that stem from its multiple roles in this electronically traded marketplace. As a result, it is able to pocket a supra-competitive portion of every advertising dollar that passes through the Ad Tech markets it controls, ad revenue that rightly should have passed through to publishers like Rumble and its content creators.
Google unlawfully forecloses competition in the market for publisher ad servers in the market for ad buying tools for small advertisers, and in the separate markets for ad exchanges and ad networks,” the complaint reads.
Google excludes competition by engaging in conduct unlawful under settled antitrust precedent, including through unlawful tying arrangements, a pattern and practice of exclusionary conduct targeting actual and potential rivals, and even a market allocation and price fixing agreement with Facebook, at one time its largest potential competitive threat in the publisher ad server and ad network markets.
- This is not the only lawsuit filed by Rumble against Google, which is notorious for its aggressive and bullying behavior towards potential competitors and conservative entities.

- The measure, which was unanimously passed by the Senate in late April, will go into effect in about 90 days. However, the US Department of Energy can issue waivers until 2028 in cases where there is no alternative to Russian low-enriched uranium or if its shipments are in the national interest. The ban also provides some $2.7 billion in federal funding to build new enrichment capacity in America to boost its civilian nuclear industry.

- Judicial Watch announced today that it received 13-pages of records in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request from the District of Columbia, explaining to illegal aliens and other noncitizens how they can register to vote in local elections.
- The records came in response to an April 12, 2024, FOIA request for:
- Materials presented and/or provided at the training;
- Communications advertising/promoting the training; and
- Materials provided to participants/attendees after the training.
- On April 10, 2024, DC held a training event titled ”Non-Citizen Voting Education Virtual Training” in which DC announced noncitizen voting would begin in 2024.
- The PowerPoint presentation explains:
- Non-US citizen residents of the District of Columbia can vote in local elections under the Local Resident Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2022. Non-US citizen residents can vote in District elections for the offices of Mayor, Attorney General, Chairman or member(s) of the DC Council, member(s) of the State [sic] Board of Education, or Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner(s) Non-US citizen residents cannot vote for Federal Offices

- Now they are demanding a staff level briefing about their concerns by May 20.
- They are also seeking a legal justification for the White House’s move, documents related to the executive order and additional information about the potential use of third-party organizations to aid in voter registration.
