After ripping Judge Merchan for weeks, Donald Trump and his defense team tried to get the gag order narrowed against Trump so he could respond to the testimony of Stormy Daniels.
Mind you, Trump has already violated the gag order 10 times.
Needless to say, Judge Merchan rejected the motion.
Not Happening, Donnie
Had Donald Trump respected the gag order in the first place, perhaps the judge would have given him some slack since Stormy’s testimony is done.
However, Trump violated the order left and right, so I am not sure why his legal team thought Judge Merchan would cut them a break here.
Trump attorney Todd Blanche argued, “He needs an opportunity to respond to the American people.
“She is no longer a witness.”
Merchan was not convinced, quite the opposite, actually.
Merchan responded, “That’s just not the track record.
“The reason why the gag order is in place to begin with is precisely because of the nature of these attacks — the vitriol.”
Trump again railed about the gag order on Truth Social, posting, “This judge has taken away my constitutional right to free speech. I am the only presidential candidate in history to be gagged. They don’t want me talking.”
If I were Trump, I would not be all that worried about Daniels’ testimony, as even the leftist legal analysts largely called her testimony a disaster for Bragg.
Next up for Bragg will be liar extraordinaire, Michael Cohen, so that should make next week rather interesting, especially since you know Trump will be all amped up to respond to Cohen’s attacks.
If I were Trump’s attorney, I would just tell him to calm down and get through this case without getting sent to jail for another gag order violation.
The way this case has gone, it is ripe to be overturned on appeal, so Trump should beat it regardless of what Merchan does to him.
