A former professional wrestler who decided to jump into Republican politics is now facing an indictment related to the murder of a man who hosted a Halloween party.Â
According to the Daily Mail, Daniel Rodimer, a former GOP congressional candidate, was seen in video footage just hours before the death of an Idaho man dressed as Ken from the recent “Barbie” movie.
This week, Rodimer, 45, entered a not guilty plea in Las Vegas court after being indicted by a grand jury last month on murder charges.
Rodimer has denied that he was responsible for killing Christopher Tapp, the Idaho man who hosted the Halloween party.
What’s happening?
The outlet reported that Rodimer attended the party with his wife and stepdaughter. He was dressed as Ken, and his wife was dressed as Barbie, the video shows.
The Halloween party was hosted at Resorts World in Vegas by both Tapp and famous racecar driver John Odom.
The Daily Mail reported what led up to Tapp’s death:
In March, a witness named Dani Lyons, a model friend of Rodimer’s stepdaughter, testified that she and the stepdaughter were drinking and taking cocaine at the party when Tapp offered them more cocaine.
She said the pair turned him down, but when Rodimer saw a rolled-up $100 bill on the table, he became violent and tackled Tapp to the floor.
Lyons explained to the jury that she remembers Rodimer threatening Tapp, recalling that he said “if you give my daughter any of that I will [expletive] kill you.”
The Daily Mail noted:
A security manager at the venue said that Odom initially reported Tapp falling after he slipped on a pair of sneakers.
The metro police department opened an investigation into Tapp’s death about a month later after the victim’s friends and family lobbied for someone to look into his suspicious death.
It was ruled that Tapp ultimately died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Scorned wife
Rodimer’s wife, Sarah, wasn’t happy after everything happened, and immediately threatened to leave her husband and file for divorce, even suggesting that he abused her.
“I’m going to do extensive discovery, murderous behavior and all of the horrible photos of the bruise marks that you put on me,” she reportedly wrote in a text.
“Ok well I’m sorry you feel this way,” Rodimer replied via text. “I will always have love in my heart for you. I’m sorry it did not work out.”
Rodimer is currently out on bail and is due back in court August 8.
