Well, it was only a matter of time before the prosecution of Marilyn Mosby was turned into a racial issue by the NAACP, and they did not disappoint.
The organization is now calling on Joe Biden to pardon the former Baltimore state’s attorney.
According to the NAACP, she was victimized by the bad orange man and should be free to go.
Uhm, No
For those of you unfamiliar with Mosby’s case, she had falsified information on a mortgage application to secure a lower mortgage rate.
She had also illegally tapped into her retirement account.
This, of course, is all Donald Trump’s fault.
Yes, it was Trump’s fault that Mosby used pandemic exceptions to claim financial hardship so she could hit her retirement account unpenalized and use that money for down payments on vacation homes in Florida.
The NAACP penned a letter to Biden this week, demanding that he overturn the “political” and “malicious” prosecution Mosby endured from the Trump administration.
The letter, in part, stated, “We are deeply concerned that the last administration abused their power to advance a meritless indictment against Ms. Mosby and worse, the current administration’s U.S. Department of Justice ignored a clear political motive of the malicious prosecution against Ms. Mosby.”
The letter goes on to say, “In contrast, 739 individuals withdrew funds from their retirement accounts without being charged for improper withdrawals, including three within her agency.
“Ms. Mosby was the only person charged.”
The problem with the NAACP’s claims is that they do not go into detail about whether other people who withdrew money were still drawing a full salary, as Mosby was, nor do they say if they were involved in mortgage schemes to lock down lower rates, as Mosby was.
Mosby’s charges were also brought by Democrat U.S. Attorney Erek Barron, and the case itself was overseen by Judge Lydia Kay Griggsby, who was nominated to the bench by Joe Biden.
Let me throw in one last little tidbit… imagine the pushback by the GOP if Biden pardons Mosby for a crime that is very similar to the civil case that was brought against Trump by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
Sorry, Ms. Mosby, but you are going to have to take your poison on this one.
You did the crime, now you have to do the time.
