Big-time pharmaceutical companies have been in hot water recently as side effects brought by their COVID-19 vaccines begin to make headlines.
One particular company decided to begin its worldwide withdrawal but refused to admit that it was because of the rare side effects produced by its vaccine.
The vaccine, Covishield, developed by the British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and Oxford University, is being recalled from global distribution, citing that there was a “surplus of available updated vaccines” for COVID-19.
AstraZeneca has already voluntarily surrendered its “marketing authorization” in the European Union, saying that its vaccine is no longer being produced and could not be used to inoculate their people.
The company also noted that they will make the same move across other countries that are using the vaccine.
The truth? The pharmaceutical giant was slapped with a 100 million pound lawsuit in the UK as deaths and injuries were reported on people inoculated with their vaccines.
In a court document last February, the company finally admitted that Covishield can cause TTS, or thrombosis, with thrombocytopenia syndrome.
“It is admitted that the AZ vaccine can, in very rare cases, cause TTS. The causal mechanism is not known,” AstraZeneca wrote.
Such side effects can lead to a low blood platelet count and blood clots in humans. The COVID jab was suspected to have led to the deaths of 81 individuals in the UK.
Of course, the vaccine producer denied that this was the basis for withdrawing Covishield.
“According to independent estimates, over 6.5 million lives were saved in the first year of use alone, and over three billion doses were supplied globally. Our efforts have been recognised by governments around the world and are widely regarded as being a critical component of ending the global pandemic. As multiple, variant Covid-19 vaccines have since been developed, there is a surplus of available updated vaccines. We will now work with regulators and our partners to align on a clear path forward to conclude this chapter and significant contribution to the Covid-19 pandemic,” AstraZeneca justified.
As the case against the pharmaceutical company rolls, its only response to those who have suffered the consequences of their vaccines was, “Our sympathy goes out to anyone who has lost loved ones or reported health problems.”
It also points to regulatory authorities for allowing the use of their problematic vaccine: “Regulatory authorities have clear and stringent standards to ensure the safe use of all medicines, including vaccines.”
