Contrary to what mainstream corporate news has been feeding the public, a recent Harvard CAPS-Harris poll shared with The Hill revealed that at least 80 percent of American voters support Israel’s fight against Hamas, and merely 20 percent answered that they support Hamas.
Notably, voter differences are evident per age group, where older voters are more supportive of Israel than younger Americans.
Gauging Israel’s support per age group, Harvard found that about 64 percent of those aged 25–34 are in favor of Israel, while 57 percent of the 18–24 age group remarked that they support Hamas.
Additionally, 72 percent of Americans support the decision of the Israel Defense Forces to proceed to Rafah to “finish the war.”. Israeli leaders noted that Hamas terrorists had fled the city.
The poll results come as waves of pro-Hamas demonstrations batter the country, setting up campouts and trashing the grounds.
Among the schools affected were Columbia, New York University, the University of Georgia, Virginia Tech, and UCLA.
University administrators devised various strategies to quell the pro-Palestine protests, including negotiations, suspensions, and arrests.
Mark Penn, co-director of the poll, remarked that Israel’s support “has not budged” despite “campus unrest.”
The survey found that the demonstrations were out of touch with public sentiment.
The poll also revealed that a lot of Americans wanted Israel’s war to end, but only after Hamas was finally toppled and the hostages were released.
More than 61 percent of respondents said they want a ceasefire, but only after the conditions are met, while 39 percent support an unconditional ceasefire.
The poll also found that 70 percent of registered voters want Israel to continue with its military offensives.
Pollsters noted that framing questions must be considered, as 70 percent of respondents answered that they support a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, but 68 percent wouldn’t want one if that meant Hamas perpetuated its power.
Moreover, at least 7 out of 10 Americans believe that Israel is acting morally in its war against Hamas terrorists.
The poll found that 67 percent of Americans think Israel is actively avoiding civilian casualties in its war.
The survey was released 209 days after Hamas attacked Israeli communities on the border of the Gaza Strip. They murdered 1,200 men, women, and children; some were beheaded and burned to death in their homes.
The terrorists also kidnapped 253 Israelis and foreigners.
The poll was conducted on April 24–25, with 1,961 American voters as respondents.
