Sexually molesting children is one of the most heinous crimes unless a Democrat politician in America is caught doing it. Not surprising then to see a Democrat in Arizona get away with a very light sentence for the molestation of a minor.
Otoniel Navarrete, known as Tony Navarrete, is a Democrat who served as a Senator from 2019 to 2021 in the Arizona State Senate. He was arrested in 2021 over multiple charges of sexual misconduct with minors. The Washington Examiner reported that he initially faced 49 years in jail if convicted on all seven counts of felony. But a 2023 mistrial washed away most of the charges. In February this year, a jury found Navarrete guilty of one class 6 felony of sexual conduct with a minor.
AZ Central reported that Navarrete was sentenced to one year in prison on Friday (April 26) by Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Kristin Culbertson. The sentence was awarded for molesting a boy between the age of 13 and 15 who was in Navarrete’s care. Before ordering the one-year prison sentence, Judge Kristin Culbertson offered Navarrete a sentence of 60 days in prison followed by 10 years of supervised probation. Navarrete rejected the offer as he did not want to participate in counseling that was a mandatory part of the probation. The story added:
The judge did not order internet restrictions for Navarrete, which she said weren’t appropriate in this case.
With a light sentence of a year for molesting a minor, the Washington Examiner noted that Navarrete can be out of prison sooner than one year if he exhibits “good behavior.” Popular Twitter/X account Libs of TikTok posted that Navarrete’s sentence shows how broken the judicial system has become.
The Gateway Pundit posted Navarrete’s picture with VP Kamala Harris as they reported on his sentencing. The story mentioned a recorded phone call monitored by the police in which the convict admitted to oral sex with the minor multiple times over several years. Adding Navarrete’s history as a lawmaker, the story wrote:
Navarette also has ties to State Rep. Athena Salman and Sen. Juan Mendez, Democrat colleagues who helped him draft a bill requiring all Arizona schools to teach sexual education instruction starting in Kindergarten.
Navarrete resigned from the State Senate after he was arrested for child molestation. In a video from October 2023, January 6 defendant Micajah Jackson and citizen journalist Kyle Clifton were seen confronting Navarrete in public to remind him that he was a child molester.

Most of the left-aligned mainstream media have not reported on Navarrete’s conviction and sentencing.
