(RestoreAmericanGlory.com) – Last week, Aaron Dimmock, a former naval aviator, filed to join the primary race for the House in the 1st Congressional District in Florida, running against Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.).
The filing came on Friday which was the deadline for judicial and federal candidates in Florida. Prior to Dimmock joining the race Gaetz was not facing any candidate in the primary race during this election cycle. However, now Dimmock and the incumbent Representative are going to face off on Aug. 20 during the primary.
According to a report from the Pensacola News Journal, Dimmock is a former naval aviator who has served as the Missouri Leadership Academy director according to his LinkedIn profile.
Hill shared Gaetz’s statement in which he referred to his new competitor as a “Missouri-based DEI instructor.” He continued by arguing that Dimmock was no longer in Kansas City and that this was Trump Country.
On Monday Gaetz also took to X, formerly known as Twitter, in order to share a screenshot of a LinkedIn report by Dimmock from four years ago which had the hashtag “#blacklivesmatter.”
Before the last-minute filing, it was expected that Gaetz would have an easy time winning the general election and maintaining his position. His Democratic challenger is Gay Valimont in this race. Valimont is an activist for gun violence prevention according to her website.
Gaetz has been serving the 1st Congressional District since 2017 and is now 41 years old. His district is considered to be solidly Republican.
