Former President Trump’s campaign blasted the Commission on Presidential Debates after it refused to move up the schedule between President Biden and Trump, deciding to keep to the original plan.
The debates are scheduled to kick off in mid-September after millions of Americans have already voted. Trump’s team has a problem with that and so do his supporters.
“Early Tuesday afternoon, Republican National Committee spokesperson Danielle Alvarez told The Post that Wiles and LaCivita’s letter to the CPD had been greeted by ‘crickets’ from debate organizers,” the New York Post revealed.
Later on Tuesday, the commission issued a statement saying, “The CPD’s criteria […] will be applied in early September; afterward, the Commission will extend debate invitations to qualifying candidates. The CPD is proceeding with production and broadcast plans at its four debate sites as also announced on November 20, 2023,”

“Two top advisers to the 45th president, Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita, sent a letter to the CPD on April 11 stating the 77-year-old Trump was ready to debate President Biden ‘anytime, anyplace, and anywhere,’ and arguing that earlier debates would allow for more voters to view a head-to-head match-up before early voting begins,” the New York Post reported.
“We are committed to making this happen with or without the Presidential Debate Commission. We extend an invitation to every television network in America that wishes to host a debate, and we once again call on Joe Biden’s team to work with us to set one up as soon as possible,” the campaign announced after getting the cold shoulder from the CPD.
“This is unacceptable, and by refusing to move up the debates, they are doing a grave disservice to the American public who deserve to hear from both candidates before voting begins,” the campaign further contended.
Biden told shock-jock Howard Stern that he’s “happy” to debate Trump.

“I don’t know when. I’m happy to debate him,” the president said referring to the debate schedule.
Trump stingingly responded to Biden’s statement on Truth Social, “Crooked Joe Biden just announced that he’s willing to debate! Everyone knows he doesn’t really mean it, but in case he does, I say, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, ANYPLACE, an old expression used by Fighters. I suggest Monday Evening, Tuesday Evening, or Wednesday Evening at my Rally in Michigan, a State that he is in the process of destroying with his E.V. Mandate. In the alternative, he’s in New York City today, although probably doesn’t know it, and so am I, stuck in one of the many Court cases that he instigated as ELECTION INTERFERENCE AGAINST A POLITICAL OPPONENT – A CONTINUING WITCH HUNT! It’s the only way he thinks he can win. In fact, let’s do the Debate at the Courthouse tonight – on National Television, I’ll wait around!”
The CPD has scheduled three presidential debates that will take place on Sept. 16 in San Marcos, TX; Oct. 1 in Petersburg, VA; and Oct. 9 in Salt Lake City, UT.
A vice presidential debate is scheduled to take place on Sept. 25 in Easton, PA.
