Donald Trump’s top surrogates in Congress continue to spend their time attacking on his behalf.
The latest move is by Rep. Elise Stefanik, considered one of the frontrunners to be named Trump’s vice president.
This week, Stefanik filed an ethics complaint against Special Counsel Jack Smith, answering Trump’s call to try to get these cases dismissed.
Ringing the Bell
Stefanik filed her complaint with the charge that Jack Smith is interfering in the 2024 election.
After filing the charge, she stated, “It’s obvious to any reasonable observer that Jack Smith is trying to interfere with the 2024 election and stop the American people from electing Donald Trump.
“At every turn, he has sought to accelerate his illegal prosecution of President Trump for the clear (if unstated) purpose of trying him before the November election.”
Her full statement is below and was posted on X…

Smith’s team has already countered that the 60-day rule pertains to launching new investigations, not continuing investigations that had already been launched and were ongoing.
My job is to analyze and tell you guys what I think, and I think this is nothing more than a move by Stefanik to win favor with Trump and give her a boost in the race to be his VP.
This filing has zero chance of successfully charging Smith, but it will show Trump that Stefanik is being loyal, all on our tax dollars.
I have stated before that there is a real argument to be made that these cases were purposely delayed to keep Trump occupied during the election cycle, but you have to be able to prove that in order to successfully carry out the complaint, and Stefanik cannot prove that.
There is a great line from “Law Abiding Citizen,” “It’s not what we know, it’s what we can prove” in court.
We all know what Democrats are up to here, but until they can show communications of a conspiracy between these parties, these lawsuits are nothing more than a frivolous waste of taxpayer dollars.
