Billionaires who care about shareholders and the future of the nation should be backing former President Donald Trump’s re-election bid.
That’s the belief of North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum who made the case for the presumptive Republican nominee during an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham.
The GOP governor endorsed Trump after he ended his own bid for the Republican presidential nomination and is now urging billionaires to throw their support behind him for the sake of the country.
“Your message to billionaires across this country,” Ingraham asked on “The Ingraham Angle” Tuesday. “So many of them are adamantly supporting Biden still, especially the Wall Street types. I know you know a lot of these folks. What’s your message?”

“Well, I wish that they had gotten the opportunity to know President Trump the way the first lady and I have because when you see someone who cares this deeply about this country, what he’s going through, and what the Democrats and the liberal media is putting him through, and how he gets up and fights for everyday people in America every day,” Burgum replied.
“And then his policies are all in the right direction,” he added.
“If you’re a billionaire and you care about your shareholders, you care about your family, you care about your grandkids, you should be voting for someone that’s going to bring prosperity to America and peace to the world,” the governor told Ingraham.
“That’s what President Trump is going to do. That’s what he did for us when he was president,” he said.
Burgum was singing a different tune last year when MSNBC’s Chuck Todd asked him, “Would you ever do business with Donald Trump?”
“I don’t think so,” he replied at the time. “I just think that it’s important that you’re judged by the company you keep.”
Fox News host Martha MacCallum confronted Burgum over his past comments about Trump.
“I was just saying I endorsed President Trump in 2016,” he had responded. “I endorsed him in 2020. I’m endorsing him now because it’s the right decision for our country.”
After winning the Iowa caucuses in January, Trump had said Burgum might have an “important” role in his next administration if he is re-elected.
“What people don’t know is that he actually supported me on the other side, twice already. Then he decided to do it. And he was outstanding, but the traction is never easy, right?” Trump said at the time.
“You need controversy for traction sometimes, and this guy is the most solid guy. There’s no controversy whatsoever,” he added. “And he’s one of the best governors in our country, and I hope that I’m going to be able to call on him to be a piece of the administration, a very important piece of the administration.”
Burgum’s name has reportedly been on Trump’s list of potential running mates and his name is being brought up by the former president.
“Trump and his wife, Melania, hosted Burgum and his wife, Kathryn, at Mar-a-Lago for Easter Brunch,” Axios reported, citing “two people familiar with the matter.”
“Two sources familiar with Trump’s thinking said he likes Burgum’s measured demeanor and his gubernatorial experience — and sees Burgum as reliable and low-drama,” the outlet added. “Burgum, 67, in his second term in deeply red North Dakota, is a staunchly conservative businessman and is widely viewed as acceptable to establishment Republicans — a safe choice to put on the ticket.”
