On Saturday afternoon, former Daily Wire Host Candace Owens rejoiced in the news that Actor Russell Brand is soon to be baptized into the Christian faith, less than a week after her own announcement of rejoining the Catholic Church.
“Just learning that [Russell Brand] is getting baptized. This is amazing. God is at work,” Owens wrote on X. “Difficult to put into the words the spiritual urge I felt last year— an overwhelming understanding that it was and forever has been a holy battle of eternal Good vs. evil.”
“This Sunday, I’m taking the plunge, I’m getting baptized,” Brand said in the video. “At the moment, I’m very curious as to what you who have been baptized feel about it, what your expectations are of the event prior, and what it’s actually like.”
“What’s been explained to me is it’s an opportunity to die and be reborn,” he continued. “An opportunity to leave the past behind and be reborn in Christ’s name like it says in Galatians. That you can live as an enlightened and awakened person.”
He said that the concept of the dying and being reborn in Christ seemed “inviting and beautiful,” citing non-Christian thinkers who have talked about Baptism, such as Marcus Aurelius.
“I know a lot of people are cynical about the increasing interest in Christianity and the return to God, but to me, it’s obvious,” he continued. “As meaning deteriorates in the modern world, as our value systems and institutions crumble, all of us become increasingly aware that there is this eerily familiar awakening and beckoning figure that we’ve all known, all of our lives, within us and around us.”
“To me it’s very exciting,” he added.
This comes less than a week after Owens announced her own return to the faith, writing on X on April 22 that she “made the decision to go home.”
“There is of course so much more that went into this decision and that I plan to share in the future,” she added. “But for now, praise be to God for His gentle, but relentless guiding of my heart toward Truth,” before citing Isaiah 41:10
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand,” the verse reads.
“I do not fear. Christ is King.” she concluded.
Owens’ own conversion came just weeks after she was abruptly removed from her position with the Daily Wire, following weeks of tension with the outlet’s co-founder Ben Shapiro over the Israel-Hamas war.
She had also been repeatedly accused of anti-semitism over several online debates with members of the Jewish community regarding the topic.
