Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is refusing a request to meet with a father who lost his sons to violent crime on the mean streets of the nation’s capital.
John Evans is looking for answers after the death of his 14-year-old son Avion Evans who was shot at the Brookland Metro station after taking a train home from school in Northwest D.C. on April 4.
When asked by local D.C. media whether she planned to meet with the grieving dad, the Democrat mayor responded with a terse “No,” according to the Fox News affiliate Fox 5 DC.

“I just think that something should be done about what’s happening at these subway stations,” Evans said. “The violence that’s going on I just don’t understand.”
“I know the Metro system has changed from when I used to ride the Metro system 20-some years ago, but I just can’t understand how, with so much security and so many police officers, still that kind of violence happens,” he said.
Avion is the third one of Evans’ sons to have his young life cut short as a result of rampant crime in the Dem-controlled city, one of the most dangerous in the nation, with little hope of becoming safer as long as the criminal coddling left-wing party is in charge of the political system.
Last year, tragedy struck the Evans family in May when Avion’s half-brother John Coleman was reportedly shot while doing handiwork for a neighbor. In April 2016, 15-year-old Johnny Evans III was stabbed to death at Deanwood Metro station in Northeast D.C.
The family has reportedly been contacted by the Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement but Evans would like to speak with city leaders about concerns about D.C. crime.
“I’m not going to talk about their concerns with you. I’ll talk to them about it because obviously, that’s troubling to us,” Mayor Bowser told Fox 5 on April 10.
“I’ve answered your question. Any other questions?” Bowser told the outlet when asked why she didn’t have plans to meet with the family.
As of this Wednesday, Evans said he still has not heard from the mayor.
“I don’t talk about my discussions with families,” Bowser told Fox 5 on Wednesday.
But the mayor found time for a trip to Augusta, Georgia to take in the prestigious Masters golf tournament and on the taxpayer dime. Bowser traveled 500 miles south from her city which is under attack by criminals, drawing criticism for the trip which was spun “as part of a sports and economic development visit.”
“The mayor said that she was going to talk to us first,” said Evans. “Nobody has reached out to us. We have not spoken to the mayor. We have not talked to anybody but the detectives.”
“I mean we love our kids. I mean, I don’t know if people realize, but we love our kids. We just have to deal with what we’re dealing with in this culture. You know what I’m saying? We really love our kids, we’re just trying to figure out how to navigate this culture without them getting hurt or being a part of the violence in the culture,” Evans added.
