A pair of Nevada parents have been arrested for child abuse/neglect after their 11-year-old child was found in a “large metal enclosure” when officers were asked to check on a truancy issue.
The Henderson Police Department said they and the Clark County School District Police Department conducted a welfare check Tuesday morning and found the child in the enclosure. The home was also deemed inhospitable, police said.
Misty Scanlan, 46, and Jeffery Scanlan, were taken into custody and released on bond within 24 hours.
Child Protective Services assisted with the call, but no further information was released.
The Scanlans are due in court again on May 14.
