Alec Baldwin was captured on camera striking the phone of an anti-Israel protester who confronted him inside a New York City coffee shop.
Conservatives, in a surprising twist, half-jokingly shared their support for Baldwin, dubbing the protestor “insufferable” and an “idiot.”
Infowars’ Alex Jokes weighed in on the video, writing, “A lesson on how to make people hate you. If you are making Alec Baldwin look like the good guy you are an idiot.”
The protester, whose video was shared on X, was participating in an anti-fascist interview show called Crackhead Barney & Friends. The filmer persistently requested Baldwin to voice support for a “free Palestine.”
Baldwin, who was clearly annoyed, requested a coffee shop employee to contact the police and firmly informed the protester that he would not utter the phrase “free Palestine.”
Some users praised Baldwin for slapping the phone out of the woman’s hand. “Only time I’ll ever applaud that f***ing hateful anti-TRUMP bigot,” said Joey Mannarino.
Amiri King said, “This is the woman who demanded that Alec Baldwin say ‘free Palestine.’ Imagine how insufferable you have to be to get conservatives to side with Alec f***ing Baldwin.”
The protester demanded, “F**k Israel, f**k Zionism, please say it,” while also alluding to the Rust movie set shooting, for which Baldwin still faces criminal charges.
Baldwin requested in response, “Can you do me one quick favor,” before striking the protester’s phone from her hand.
The protester repeatedly shouted at Baldwin, “Alec, can you please say free Palestine one time.”
“Free Palestine, Alec, just one time and I’ll leave you alone. I’ll leave you alone, I swear, just say free Palestine one time,” the protester persisted.
As Baldwin made his way towards the door, a coffee shop employee attempted to intervene, urging the protester to cease their altercation with the actor. Baldwin then requested the protester to leave.
The protester referenced the fatal Rust set shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, saying, “Why did you kill that lady? You killed that lady and got no jail time.”
Baldwin, 66, is set to face his criminal trial for the shooting beginning on July 10, following a grand jury indictment for involuntary manslaughter back in January.
The actor has pleaded not guilty to the charge, and his defense attorneys are urging the judge to dismiss the indictment against him, accusing prosecutors of “unfairly stacking the deck” in grand jury proceedings.
Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed received a sentence of 18 months in prison after a jury found her guilty of involuntary manslaughter in March.
She became the first crew member to be convicted in the accidental shooting of Hutchins.
