The Democrats held an edge from 2017 to 2021, but no longer. According to a recent Pew Research survey, Republicans have gained more registered voters and are closing in on the advantage as we head into the 2024 presidential election. Leading up to the 2020 election, Democrats had the advantage, with 51% of registered voters, compared to 46% Republicans .
