The Left has declared war on any display of faith in government schools.
Now they are using awful threats to try and force compliance.
And Ron DeSantis will be ready to go to war after this sick attack on Christian athletes.
Radical atheist group bullies Christian organization out of Florida elementary school
In rural Hamilton County, Florida, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes club was disbanded at an elementary school after a militant atheist group threatened legal action.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes club was formed by students and was meeting in a classroom at Hamilton County Elementary School.
Wisconsin-based Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF) sent a letter to the Hamilton County School District claiming the club was “unconstitutional” and a scheme to “indoctrinate” students into Christianity.
Membership in the club was voluntary.
“Elementary students are too young to truly run a club entirely on their own initiative with no input from school staff or outside adults,” FFRF Samantha F. Lawrence wrote in the letter. “The Establishment Clause prohibits school employees from organizing or leading a religious club for students and therefore prohibits religious clubs in elementary schools.”
Hamilton County School District folded and disbanded the club after receiving the letter.
“The District has investigated the allegations of your letter and concluded that there was a small group of fifth grade students participating in such a club at the school,” the Hamilton County School District stated.
“While these same students will be eligible to participate in FCA [Fellowship of Christian Athletes] on the campus of Hamilton County High School in a few short months as six graders, in an effort to avoid any perception that such a gathering on the campus of Hamilton Elementary is being organized, promoted or endorsed by the District or its employees, the club has been dispersed,” the school district added.
The FFRF discovered that the Fellowship of Christian Athletes was active at the school through a social media post.
And the out-of-state group threatened legal action against a small rural school district to see if they would back down.
They know that a smaller school district did not have the resources to engage in costly litigation to defend the club.
Using legal threats to force compliance is part of the group’s tactics to attack Christians.
They have run a nationwide harassment campaign to try and scare school districts into disassociating from anything to do with faith.
Militant out-of-state atheists celebrate shutting down rural Christian group
The FFRF cheered the “unconstitutional elementary school religious club” being disbanded.
But a Christian legal group, The First Liberty Institute, said that the Hamilton County School District should have stood its ground against the attack.
“Banning students from having a religious club at a school while permitting other, secular clubs is a travesty that teaches children their faith is unwelcome and must be hidden,” First Liberty Institute senior counsel Justin Butterfield told the Christian Post.
“The Supreme Court has repeatedly recognized that students’ religious viewpoints are protected by the First Amendment and that students do not give up their free speech rights while at school — including elementary schools,” Butterfield added.
The Left is relentless in its crusade to make sure that faith is eradicated from government schools.
