Joe Biden is escalating his feud with Ron DeSantis.
Now he’s targeting Florida for standing up to one of his biggest allies.
And Joe Biden went to war with Ron DeSantis for one reason that will leave you sick.
Ron DeSantis signs law to curb the power of public sector unions
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis took bold action to give government workers in the state more freedom to escape the power of public sector unions.
The bill prevented Florida from acting as a collection agency for public sector unions by automatically deducting union dues from workers’ paychecks.
Workers would have to write the union a check if they wanted to pay dues.
It also put in place a requirement that a public sector union have at least 60% of its members paying dues or face decertification.
This keeps zombie unions that workers do not want, or support, from representing them in the workplace.
Big Labor pours billions of dollars into supporting Democrat candidates every election from forced dues they collect from their workers.
DeSantis’ bill promised to break up this vicious cycle by freeing government workers from the iron grip of public sector unions.
The Union Bosses in Florida were furious that DeSantis took away their government-granted privileges over workers.
Joe Biden strikes back at Florida on behalf of his allies in Big Labor
The Biden administration is withholding $800 million in federal funds that were allocated to Florida under the Federal Transit Act because of the state’s law curbing public sector union power.
U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) wrote a letter to acting Biden Labor Secretary Julie Su demanding “any and all legal analysis justifying the DOL overriding DOT’s [Transportation Department] grant decision by withholding $800 million in federal grant funding from the State of Florida.”
The Biden Labor Department threatened to withhold the funds last year because they claimed without evidence that Florida illegally prevented public sector workers from engaging in collective bargaining.
“The Department of Labor is threatening Florida and other states that may seek to empower workers and increase union transparency, in violation of federal law. This is completely unacceptable,” Cassidy wrote. “This is yet another example of the Biden administration weaponizing its enforcement power to tip the scale in favor of its political allies – not the American worker.”
Cassidy noted in his letter that workers have the freedom to decide for themselves whether they want to join a public sector union.
“The Florida statute merely ensures that the state’s public employees can freely choose whether to join or remain in a union,” Cassidy said. “In fact, the right to join a labor union and bargain collectively is enshrined in the Florida Constitution.”
Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody (R) filed a lawsuit last year in federal court to try and stop the Biden administration from withholding the funds.
President Joe Biden is counting on the money and get-out-of-the-vote efforts from Big Labor this year for his re-election campaign.
He is throwing his allies in Big Labor a bone by blocking Florida’s federal transit money because the state stood up for worker freedom.
