A Georgia police officer was arrested on Monday for allegedly distributing child pornography.
Chamblee police lieutenant Roy Collar, 48, was criminally charged after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children got a tip about the possession and distribution of child sex abuse materials. The police department confirmed to WXIA that it relieved Collar of his duties pending the outcome of this case.
A search warrant was performed at Collar’s home which resulted in the arrest. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said the police department cooperated with its investigation.
Officials have not provided specifics about this case, including when Collar allegedly distributed child pornography and any information about his connection to the victim.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Collar has been with Chamblee police for 10 years. He was reprimanded in 2008, but the nature of that incident was not detailed in public records.
