On March 29, Joe Biden held a big fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
Trump was also in town that day, but he was there to attend the services of a fallen NYPD Officer.
Joining Biden at his fundraiser were former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, with the event reportedly raising more than $25 million.
I Can Beat That
Biden’s event had about 5,000 people in attendance, with tickets starting at around $225, with pictures and more intimate event access costing anywhere from $100,000 to $500,000.
This was hardly the “grassroots” event that Biden, the media, and Democrats touted it to be.
After the haul was announced, the media gushed over the support for Biden, but Trump warned them he had a big fundraiser of his own where he expected to make more than $30 million for his campaign.
Well, Trump did far better than that, with more than $50 million reportedly raised at the Palm Beach fundraiser.
After the event was over, Trump campaign senior advisors Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles stated, “Tonight will be an incredible night for President Trump and the Republican Party, raising an astounding $50.5 million.
“Meanwhile, after locking up the nomination in one of the fastest primaries in modern political history, Donald J. Trump is winning poll after poll and proving that the enthusiasm is on his side.
“It’s clearer than ever that we have the message, the operation, and the money to propel President Trump to victory on November 5.”
Newly appointed Republican National Committee Chair Michael Whatley and Co-Chair Lara Trump added, “The success of tonight’s event is proving what we already know: Americans are fed up with Biden’s record of failure, from the open southern border and sky-high inflation to the migrant crime crisis that has made everyone less safe.
“The Republican Party is united behind the effort to elect President Donald J. Trump, and Americans are lining up to join our movement and retire Crooked Joe Biden once and for all.”
I cannot possibly overstate the importance of this event for Trump, who was being dwarfed by the Biden campaign in terms of cash on hand.
This single event just about leveled the playing field for Trump, but just as importantly, it showed that the big-money donors of the GOP are rallying behind Trump, something that was very much in question prior to this event.
Biden entered April with roughly $192 million cash on hand, much on the strength of that fundraiser.
Trump entered April with about $93.1 million on hand after raising about $60 million in March, but once we add that $50 million to the tally, Trump is back in Joe’s ballpark, with the advantage of using social media far better than Biden has during his campaign.
This is a new race, folks… and Trump is back in this financially, and that is not good news for the Democrat Party.
