Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., said Tuesday that President Donald Trump’s ‘big beautiful bill’ will only pass the Senate if there are major spending cuts and reform.
“There will be some reform in this,” Tuberville said on the “Just the News, No Noise” TV show. “I promise you that whatever the House sent here is not going to pass muster. When it comes to the Senate, there’s going to be a lot of things that change, and when it changes, we’ll try to change it for the best. Now, at the end of the day, we’ve got to do it to where we can get it passed back in the House, and that’s going to be a big concern.”
The House recently passed Trump’s “big beautiful bill” and some GOP senators have expressed concern that it will raise the deficit and said they wouldn’t vote for it.
On Tuesday, former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk slammed the bill, calling it an “outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill.”
Tuberville said there are thousands of agencies in the government that need to be removed.
