President Joe Biden and Speaker Mike Johnson recently met with Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar at America’s capitol for an annual lunch celebrating the relationship between the United States and Ireland on March 15.
Biden and Varadkar met first at the White House, then traveled to meet Speaker Mike Johnson at the Capitol.
While there, Biden began trying to pressure Mike Johnson to pass foreign aid to Putin.
“I think a vast majority of members of Congress are willing to do their part. And I continue to urge every member in this room to stand up to Vladimir Putin. He’s a thug,” Biden said during the event.
Johnson seemed to stick to his guns though, and also wouldn’t budge on the fact that “Hamas will not respect a ceasefire” as Biden repeatedly called for that.
The Irishman also chimed in. At least Varadkar called out Hamas for the bloody attacks of October 7, 2023.
“The savage attacks of October 7 in Israel and the terrible violence and loss of human life in Gaza, which has followed and continues, we very much want that to end.”
