Vice President Kamala Harris used foul language to shame and demean Democrat governors who rightfully worried about President Joe Biden’s cognitive ability.
That’s according to a new book published on Tuesday, “2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America,” by Isaac Arnsdorf, Josh Dawsey, and Tyler Pager. The trio claim that Harris demanded blue-state governors get their act together and support Biden’s 2024 presidential run because “this is about saving our f–king democracy.”
This kind of verbal strongarming appeared to have worked on New York Governor Kathy Hochul who told reporters in July 2024 that “all of us said we pledged our support” to the then-president.
“Many of the governors were deeply skeptical that Biden could continue his campaign, and they were furious with Hochul for suggesting otherwise,” the authors explained in their book, according to the New York Post.
“Govs. Gavin Newsom of California, Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, Andy Beshear of Kentucky, Jared Polis of Colorado, JB Pritzker of Illinois, and Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania — all viewed at the time as potential last-minute replacements for Biden — didn’t show up to vouch for the oldest-ever president, who would deem Harris his successor 18 days later, heading off a potential ‘mini-primary,’” the Post reported.
One governor who was quick to fall in line was Minnesota’s Tim Walz, who would later go on to become Harris’s running mate after it was made abundantly clear that Biden was in no condition to continue the race, let alone serve another four years in the White House.
“The meeting had been called to address public outcry about the 81-year-old Biden’s cognitive abilities after a dismal June 27 debate against Donald Trump, during which the president froze up and at points gave nonsensical answers, infamously claiming that he ‘finally beat Medicare,’” NYP added.
