According to some on the left, sending troops into Los Angeles in an attempt to uphold public safety is considered an attack on democracy. However, it’s unclear how this poses a threat to the republic, given that nearly 60% of voters support the deployment of the National Guard in L.A.
According to the Centre Daily Times:
In an InsiderAdvantage survey — conducted with 1,000 likely voters June 9-10 — a majority of respondents, 59%, said they approve of Trump’s decision “to deploy National Guard and federal military in downtown Los Angeles.”
Meanwhile, 39% said they disapprove, and 2% said they were undecided.
For the millionth time, anyone surprised by this is not paying attention.
How many times do the American people have to prove that illegal immigration is deeply unpopular with them?
Most Republicans and independents — 89% and 56%, respectively — said they were on board with Trump’s decision. Just 37% of Democrats said the same.
It’s not just Republicans—more than half of independents and almost 40% of Democrats are on board too. That’s a pretty clear message to the powers that be: voters want law and order. So while Gavin Newsom tries to act like doing the bare minimum to keep the public safe is some kind of attack on democracy, most Americans aren’t buying it. Someone should probably clue him in, because the narrative he’s pushing just isn’t working for them.
What’s wild is that the same people who are crying about sending in the National Guard are also trying to pin the blame on Trump for the mess they caused. You seriously can’t make this stuff up. And at this point, the left should really start listening to what people actually want—but let’s be honest, they’ve made it pretty clear they won’t. And if that’s not a threat to Democracy then nothing is.
