U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff got a jolting welcome to San Francisco hours before attending a campaign dinner.
The Democratic California Senate candidate ended up without a proper suit to wear to the event after his bags went missing from his car which was reportedly parked in a downtown parking garage, according to The San Francisco Chronicle.
While others attending the swanky campaign dinner at Ristorante Rocca in Burlingame appeared in dress suits, Schiff was forced to wear shirt sleeves and a hiking vest. The incident comes amid Democrats’ repeated claims that deny there is a problem with crime in Democrat-run cities.
“Hello to the city, goodbye to your luggage. That was Senatorial candidate Adam Schiff’s rude introduction to San Francisco’s vexing reputation for car burglaries Thursday when thieves swiped the bags from his car while it sat in a downtown parking garage,” the Chronicle noted in a report that seemed to be more light in tone than the subject it covered.
“The heist meant the Democratic congressman got stuck at a fancy dinner party in his shirt sleeves and a hiking vest while everyone else sat in suits,” the report continued. “Not quite the look the man from Burbank was aiming for as he rose to thank powerhouse attorney Joe Cotchett for his support in his bid to replace the late Dianne Feinstein in the U.S. Senate.”
“Yes, they took my bags,” he reportedly said. “But I’m here to thank Joe.”

“Adam really showed himself tonight,” Cotchett gushed. “He’ll be a great senator — he’s going to change the Senate tremendously.”
Cotchett’s press agent Lee Houskeeper reportedly said, “I guess it’s ‘Welcome to San Francisco.’”
In other Democrat cities in California, San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan’s security guard got into a physical altercation with a man while cameras were tolling. In Los Angeles, there was a break-in at the home of Mayor Karen Bass.
There seemed to be no abundance of sympathy for Schiff on social media.

Karma, baby.— Richard Cheek (@RichardCheek19) April 26, 2024
I’m sure the thieves were well intentioned… They saw a white man with privilege and wanted to share his wealth with the less fortunate. Not themselves of course.
Based on how he talks, can you even call it theft? I’m sure he just gave them everything he had.#LiberalMath
