Former Dallas Cowboys lineman and longtime youth football coach Char-Ron Dorsey has died from complications of a stroke on Monday at only 46 years old.
Dorsey grew up in Florida and was drafted by the Cowboys in 2001 after attending Florida State University.
He only started in two games before he was ultimately released by the Cowboys. He was picked up by the Texans but left the NFL in 2003 to start a coaching career back in Florida.
He coached middle school and high school with great success until last year when he stepped away from coaching for unknown reasons.
He also mentored youth in East Jacksonville, a lower-income area of the state.
“He’s had an impact on so many kids that have had the opportunity to make it to the next level,” Dorsey’s longtime coaching colleague Michael Holloway said.
