Texas Ministry Helping Pregnant Women Gets Record Calls During Abortion Ban, Saves Babies From Abortion

Loveline, a ministry that helps women who often are pregnant or with small children in crisis situations, experienced a massive increase in calls and texts over the past two months. Loveline is part of ProLove Ministries, an umbrella organization filling the gaps in the pro-life movement to help women quickly and effectively.

“We were prepared to experience an increase in calls given the situation with SB8 in Texas – and we did see an increase but calls haven’t slowed down at all,” said Pamela Whitehead, executive director of ProLove Ministries, who also runs Loveline. “We have had a 20 percent increase in calls overall from Texas since September 1st from women who are seeking assistance in dealing with everything from domestic abuse to crisis pregnancies.”

Earlier in October, ABC News ran a story about the Texas abortion law and how Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion vendor, was handling the aftermath, reporting that the call center had “turned into a crisis hotline” and that the Planned Parenthood employees had no idea what to tell these women.

“That’s because Planned Parenthood’s answer to a pregnant woman is always abortion,” said Whitehead. “In reality, women do have other options, no matter how dire their situations may be – and because of my own life choices, I can relate to most of our clients and am able to walk with them and help them through their crisis. So many people are ready and willing to step up and assist women who feel like they don’t have a choice.”

October numbers for Loveline have been increasing. They have seen nearly a threefold increase in calls almost every week from the previous week and have hired more staff to handle the influx.

According to internal surveys, almost 60 percent of Loveline callers are victims of domestic violence and 41 percent have a history of sexual abuse or assault. Thirteen percent have had a previous abortion and 10 percent of callers already have an abortion appointment scheduled. In 2021, Loveline and their supporters filled baby registries worth more than $105,000, granted $74,777 in rental assistance, served 437 women and impacted more than 1,000 children, and paid more than $19,000 in childcare costs.

“When women call Loveline, we do everything we can as quickly as possible to help and that’s what makes us different,” said Whitehead. “To all the overwhelmed abortion clinics in Texas who don’t know where to turn to help women, please give them our number: 888-550-1588.”
