CNN Host Don Lemon Announces End Of ‘CNN Tonight With Don Lemon’

CNN host Don Lemon, regarded as one of the most anti-Donald Trump and anti-Republican hosts on the network by many, announced that his show “CNN Tonight with Don Lemon” is done.

The 55-year-old host announced that Friday’s episode of the show would be his last, after teasing it earlier in the day, but that does not mean he is leaving CNN.

“Another @CNNTonight exclusive. I have a big announcement. I hope you’re ok with it. See you at 10pE. #CNN,” he said in a video in which he was walking on a treadmill on Friday.

He then added to the confusion at the end of his Friday night show, announcing that it was the last episode of the CNN stalwart.

“It’s been really really great. This is the last night that will be ‘CNN Tonight With Don Lemon,’” he said. “So, I appreciate all the years of ‘CNN Tonight With Don Lemon,’ but changes are coming, and I will fill you in.”

His announcement left many of his viewers believing that he was leaving the network altogether. But he took to Twitter later in the evening to explain that he would still be with CNN.

“So I got back to my office after the show, everybody calm down,” he said. “I didn’t say I was leaving. I just said it was the end of an era for ‘CNN Tonight With Don Lemon.’ I’m not leaving CNN, so you will have to tune in Monday at 10:00 to see. That’s it. So relax. I’m not leaving. I’m not leaving.”

Along with his video, shared to his 1.3 million Twitter followers, he said, “Hey everyone. Not what you think. I’m not leaving CNN. Tune in for the handoff on Monday at 10pE and I’ll explain.”

Lemon has been a vicious anti-Trump voice on the network, which is full of anti-Trump voices. He even explained in October, before the 220 presidential election, that he had to get rid of friends who supported Trump.

He y said that he “had to get rid of” friends supporting Trump “because they’re too far gone,” adding that he would be friends with them again if “they want to live in reality.”

The commentary came during a handoff between anchor Chris Cuomo and Lemon.

“I had to get rid of them because they’re too far gone,” Lemon said to Cuomo of his Trump-supporting friends. “I try and I try and I try, they say something really stupid and then I’ll show them the science and I’ll give them the information, and they still repeat those talking points.

“I had to get rid of a lot of people in my life because sometimes you’ve just got to let them go. I think they have to hit rock bottom like an addict, right? And they have to want to get help, they have to want to know the truth, they have to want to live in reality, they have to want to be responsible not only for other people’s lives but for their lives.”

Earlier in the year, Lemon claimed that the president was using the daily coronavirus briefings as a way to resurrect his hit TV “The Apprentice” before suggesting viewers should not “listen to what he says.”

“I have said I don’t think that you should really listen to what he says, you should listen to what the experts say,” Lemon said back in May.

“I’m not actually sure, if you want to be honest, that we should carry that live. I think we should run snippets. I think we should do it afterward and get the pertinent points to the American people because he’s never, ever going to tell you the truth,” he added.

In other words, let the hacks at CNN edit the president’s words so they can present them out of context to fit a narrative or political agenda. Like CNN usually does.

Lemon continued:

And guess what he’s gonna do. If you ask a question that is a legitimate question, and if he doesn’t like the question, he’s gonna say whether you’re being mean or not or whatever he wants to call it, he’s gonna say, ‘That is a mean, nasty question.’ Why? Because he wants his base to think that the media is being mean to him and they’re attacking him. It is all a plot! It is all orchestrated. And if you can’t see it, I don’t know what you’re looking at. It’s obvious, it’s transparent to me.

This has become- those press briefings have become his new ‘Apprentice.’ They’ve become his new rallies. And he treats the press and the media as if he’s talking to the people at his rallies. It’s the same thing. It’s no different except the audience isn’t there.
