Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy recently asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre some questions that she clearly was not equipped to handle.Â
The questions, according to the Daily Caller, had to do with the ongoing anti-Israel student protests.
Doocy asked Jean-Pierre a series of questions about these protests on Wednesday, during Jean-Pierre’s press briefing.
The questions come as these student protests have gotten out of hand. The most infamous instance, of course, is what happened at Columbia University, where these protestors took over one of the campus buildings and even held three janitors as hostages.
“Um . . . uh . . .”
Doocy first asked Jean-Pierre to address those reports that have claimed that the student protestors have been in cahoots with professional outside agitators.
The Fox News reporter asked:
Some of these encampments, they had matching tents we’re being told, that there are professional outside agitators involved. We don’t know if they’re being paid to sow chaos by domestic folks or foreign entities. Does President Biden want his administration to find out who is funding some of these protests?
“What I can say is—you know, um … I cannot uh … I cannot speak to the organizations that are being reported that are on the ground. That is not something for me to speak to,” Jean-Pierre said in response.
She continued by stating this is a question for “local governments” and “local officials” to “speak to,” saying, “they’ll have better information on that.”
Jean-Pierre added:
What we have said, and I don’t think I’ve iterated that yet from here is that DOJ and FBI is gonna continue to offer support to universities and colleges within respect to federal laws. That is what the DOJ and FBI is doing. As far as local organizations and what is all being reported on the ground, that is something that local law enforcement is certainly looking into.
Where’s Biden?
Doocy didn’t stop there. He went on to ask Jean-Pierre a question that many have been asking: where exactly has President Joe Biden been as these college protests have continued?
“The president has not been silent on this issue when it comes to hate speech, antisemitism,” Jean-Pierre claimed, causing Doocy to interject, “This week he has.”
“Wait, wait,” Jean-Pierre said, “[Biden] started—launched—the first ever antisemitism strategy to counter antisemitism. Something no other president did. No other president.”
Here, Doocy interjected, once again, pointing to the fact that the “protestors” occupied one of Columbia’s buildings, to which Jean-Pierre said:
And we called that out and we said that is not peacefully protesting. Taking over a building at a university or college is not peacefully protesting and we’ve been very clear, we’ve been very clear, taking more than 100 new actions to deal with antisemitism in this administration, no one has ever done that before. Not any other administration has ever done that before.
Suffice it to say that it was a difficult press briefing for Jean-Pierre. For many, her answers left a lot to be desired, but, then again, this is nothing new from her and the Biden administration.
