Certain Evangelical leaders endorsed Joe Biden over the pro-life President Trump, because they do not approve of President Trump’s demeanor. Well, President Biden excluding the Hyde Amendment (a policy that prevents taxpayer funding of abortion) from the COVID-19 relief bill is their reward.
“Evangelicals” for Biden are getting exactly what they voted for.
We told you.
President Trump proved it to you.

Pro-Life Evangelicals for Biden respond to the COVID-19 relief package: “We feel used and betrayed”
By Way of Improvement, March 7, 2021
Part of this letter confuses me.
For example, as a pro-life Christian I voted for Joe Biden knowing full well that he was going to oppose the Hyde Amendment. (Unlike Mouw and Sider I am not a member of the Democratic Party). I am not sure why Mouw and Sider feel “used and betrayed” when Biden made it perfectly clear what his position would be. Unless Sider and Mouw had private meetings with the Biden campaign that I do not know about, I don’t think the Biden campaign ever promised to do anything about abortion.
I am disappointed with my own U.S. Senator, Bob Casey, for not making a bigger deal about the exclusion of the Hyde Amendment from the COVID-19 relief package. I have generally agreed with Casey’s approach to reducing abortion in the United States. Until this year he has always supported the Hyde Amendment. In January 2019, he was one of two Democratic senators to vote to make the Hyde Amendment permanent. In February 2020, he broke with his party again to vote for legislation that would ban almost all abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy and supported a bill that would impose criminal penalties on doctors who fail to aggressively treat babies that survive abortions. I have not yet read anything from Casey explaining his vote on the COVID-relief package in relation to his pro-life views.
