Report: Biden team proposing what amounts to “administrative abolishment” of ICE

WASHINGTON, DC- Former Trump administration officials have previously warned that Biden would effectively eliminating ICE not directly but indirectly through executive orders.

According to the Daily Wire, the Biden administration is proposing a reorganization of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, that would do just that, and  would significantly reduce deportations of illegal aliens.

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas unveiled the proposal last week with ICE officials in Texas.

Mayorkas proposes moving thousands of immigration agents into investigative roles that would redirect the focus to criminal activity rather than immigration violations, The Washington Times reported.

An anonymous source in effect confirmed the back door elimination of ICE to the Times on Sunday, saying:

“This is an administrative abolishment of ICE as we currently know it.”

Under Biden’s scheme, thousands of federal agents out of the approximate 6,000 who are currently tasked with enforcing immigration law will be forced out of their jobs and reassigned as investigators.

Currently, around 7,000 federal agents currently work on ICE investigations into criminal conduct, which doesn’t include immigration, so-called “top officials at the agency” told The Washington Examiner.

The outlet reported:

“The Biden administration’s proposal, outlined to top officials at the agency, would keep ICE’s name and its investigations side but effectively do away with its ability to enforce immigration laws.

ICE would have little, if any, ability to do anything about people who choose to overstay a visa or illegally enter the U.S. at its land borders.

Over the past decade, ICE officers have faced mounting challenges taking illegal immigrants into custody in sanctuary jurisdictions across the country that have enacted policies not to allow police to turn over immigrants to ICE, as was the standard practice for decades,” the report said.

During his confirmation hearing last month, Mayorkas told senators he didn’t believe ICE should be abolished, this despite heavy pressure on the administration to do so by far-left progressives including lawmakers and immigration activists.

Mayorkas was confirmed on February 2, however he faced strong opposition from Senate Republicans, with only 6 supporting the nomination.

At his confirmation hearing, Mayorkas said:

“It is the greatest privilege of my life to return to the Department to lead the men and women who dedicate their talent and energy to the safety and security of our nation.

The mission of the Department of Homeland Security is to safeguard the American people, our homeland and our values. The United States is a welcoming and empathetic nation, one that finds strength in its diversity.

I pledge to defend and secure our country without sacrificing thee American values.”

However, Republican Sen. Tom Cotton (AR) slammed Mayorkas upon his nomination, as reported in The Daily Wire:

Cotton denounced Alejandro Mayorkas, who Biden announced he would pick as his DHS chief on Tuesday, during an interview on Fox News on Wednesday. Cotton said that Mayorkas’ alleged abuse of the EB-5 visa program, which allows foreigners who invest significant sums into growing U.S. businesses to apply for green cards “disqualified” Mayorkas from the position.

“He was found by Barack Obama’s inspector general to be guilty of selling green cards to Chinese nationals on behalf of rich Democratic donors,’ Cotton said. “Think about that. Selling citizenship to well-connected Chinese nationals on behalf of Democratic Party donors. That is disqualifying…”

In tweeting out the clip, Cotton added: “Alejandro Mayorkas was found by Barack Obama’s Inspector General to be guilty of selling Green Cards to Chinese nationals on behalf of rich, democratic donors. He is disqualified from leading the Department of Homeland Security.”

On the day of his approval, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) also showed disapproval of Mayorkas’ confirmation.

“Up to this point, I’ve voted in favor of the president’s mainstream nominees to key posts,” McConnell said.

“Mr. Mayorkas is all too familiar with the levers of power that control U.S. immigration law. The problem is when he’s chosen to pull those levers—and for whose benefit.”

Earlier this month, we reported on Democrats trying to sneak amnesty into the $1.9 trillion dollar “coronavirus relief package.” For more on that, we invite you to:

DIG DEEPER

WASHINGTON, DC- Democrats are trying to sneak through an amnesty proposal for illegal aliens into the coronavirus relief package, according to Breitbart News.

Around 100 House Democrats are urging Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to include amnesty for certain subgroups of illegals in the aid package.

The Democrats led by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus are pushing for amnesty for at least five million illegal aliens who consider themselves [emphasis added] “essential workers” and who are beneficiaries of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) programs.

The letter states:

“As you continue to work on assembling a COVID-19 reconciliation package and begin work on an economic recovery and jobs package, we urge you to include a pathway to citizenship for essential immigrant workers, dreamers and TPS holders, as well as their families, in order to ensure a robust recovery that is inclusive and equitable for all Americans regardless of their immigration status.”

If such amnesty were granted, it would add to an already fragile United States labor pool, putting millions more of newly legalized illegal aliens in competition for jobs alongside 18 million unemployed Americans, and an additional 6.2 million underemployed Americans.

In addition, Joe Biden recently put over 10,000 additional Americans on the unemployment line after he shut down the Keystone XL pipeline and banned oil exploration on federal lands.

Once the illegal aliens are granted amnesty, they would then be put on a path to citizenship. House Democrats claim amnesty would boost U.S. wages, however with an already tight labor market and bringing unskilled labor into the workforce, the opposite would occur, Breitbart has reported.

Still, Democrats insist that adding millions of aliens as citizens would raise wages.

“A pathway to citizenship for undocumented essential workers would raise the wage floor and in turn benefit all workers, beyond direct beneficiaries,” the Democrats wrote.

The Biden administration has floated an amnesty plan which would allow pretty much the entire illegal alien population—amounting to between 11 and 22 million foreign nationals—to eventually obtain American citizenship.

The proposal however doesn’t have the support of all House Democrats, in particular those who are considered to be the most vulnerable. They have thus far remained silent on whether they would come out in support of such a proposal at a time when mass unemployment is ravaging the country.

Breitbart noted that every year, over 1.2 million legal immigrants are granted green cards, while another 1.4 million foreign nationals are given visas, with hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens added to the U.S. population.

Big business, Wall Street and Big Tech tyrants have been lobbying for years to grant amnesty to illegals, with the draw being the ability to increase their profit margins by cutting labor costs by a combination of U.S. job outsourcing as well as by employing unskilled labor, which would reduce their payroll costs.

Meanwhile, Biden’s amnesty plan would grant eventual U.S. citizenship to anyone who is able to prove they were in the United States illegally on January 1, a move Biden’s administration claims will slow down any rush to the border from outside groups, according to the Washington Post as reported in Breitbart.

That matters not, since migrants and coyotes conducting smuggling operations are able to easily backdate and forge documents and new identities.

In 1986, then-President Reagan gave amnesty to around three million illegal aliens, however the program was rife with computer fraud, and there was a rejection rate of only about 12 percent, a government study showed.

The Post article didn’t indicate how many migrants—and their chain migration extended families—would benefit from an amnesty program.

Biden’s scheme would also remove any and all barriers to the inflow of white collar workers who are able to earn science and technology doctoral degrees at American colleges and universities, the Post wrote.

“Doctoral graduates in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields also are exempted from visa limits that critics say have led to talented immigrants moving elsewhere around the globe, depriving the United States of their ingenuity.”

Biden’s plan would also double the annual inflow of foreign graduates into U.S. companies by providing extra visas to the workers spouses and children. Under current rules, around 70,000 foreign workers get green cards from U.S. employers each year. However the program is so popular around the world that nearly one million foreign graduates are working in U.S. jobs with the hope of getting green cards from their employers.

However, Biden and his cronies in the Democrat party ignore the fact that there is substantial evidence that the American people are opposed to such a program, especially in light of the significant unemployment challenge brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.

A twitter post by Neil Munro spoke to the issue:

“Another poll shows Americans overwhelmingly want companies to hire Americans before migrants. Biz, progressives, media & GOP estb. pretend there is no gap b/w voters’ sympathy for migrants and voters’ solidarity-demand that Americans get jobs first.”
