BREAKING: Sheriff’s Deputy, K9 Involved In Fiery Crash

Bonneau, SC – A Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office K9 vehicle was involved in a fiery crash on Tuesday morning and the deputy and his K9 partner were both injured.

Berkeley County Sheriff’s Deputy Carli Drayton said that crash occurred just after 10 a.m. in the 1300-block of Main Street in Bonneau, WCSC reported.

The deputy and K9 were responding to assist at a police call in St. Stephen, according to WCBD.

Deputy Clayton said that part of Highway 52 had been shut down between Black Oak Road and Forty-One Road.

The crash involved at least two vehicles, one of which was a sheriff’s department K9 vehicle, WCSC reported.

One of the vehicles involved in the wreck was on fire.

The deputy was transported to an area hospital for treatment, WCBD reported.

The K9 was transported to a veterinary clinic.

There is no word on the condition of the deputy or his police dog partner.
