Had Enough? Fauci Suggests Masking into 2022

There’s light at the end of the Covid tunnel as cases drop throughout the United States. You’d think Dr. Anthony Fauci would be cheering, but no. In fact, he warns that even with vaccines, masks might be needed into 2022.

Had enough yet?

On the Sunday morning broadcast of CNN’s “State of the Union,” host Dana Bash asked Dr. Fauci if we might be wearing masks into 2022. She also asked him what “normal” means.

He responded:

“You know, I think it is possible that’s the case. And, again, it really depends what you mean by normality.”

Talk about a non-answer from the nation’s alleged premiere disease expert.

As for grandparents wanting to visit their grandchildren, Fauci suggested waiting for recommendations that will “come out in a more precise way.”

Precise way? The man couldn’t even give a simple yes-no answer to anything Bash asked him. He tap-danced around her questions and gave gobbledy-gook word salad answers to a national TV audience which is suffering from Covid fatigue.

Had enough yet?

Perhaps Fauci’s outsized ego just took a blow from a February 18 Wall Street Journal article by Dr. Marty Makary, professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Makary’s commentary is bluntly titled: We’ll Have Herd Immunity by April. He points out that Covid cases have dropped 77% over the past six weeks, mainly because natural immunity is far more common than testing has measured. What’s more, he writes, testing captures only 10-25% of infections. Throw in the fact that about 15% of Americans have gotten vaccinated, and thus, Makary posits, “Covid will be mostly gone by April.”

It’s also time to open America again, says Makary:

“As we encourage everyone to get a vaccine, we also need to reopen schools and society to limit the damage of closures and prolonged isolation. Contingency planning for an open economy by April can deliver hope to those in despair and to those who have made large personal sacrifices.”

Dr. Makary’s commentary also echoes new research coming from the Karolinska Institutet School of Medicine in Sweden. They found that twice as many people have developed T-cell immunity to Covid than can be detected in antibody testing. As a result, according to the Karolinska Institutet:

“Our results indicate that public immunity to COVID-19 is probably significantly higher than antibody tests have suggested. If this is the case, it is of course very good news from a public health perspective.”

As for masks, you can throw them away after your Covid vaccine, says Vinay Prasad, professor of epidemiology at the University of California at San Francisco.

Moreover, Prasad also pointed out studies from the CDC in Europe which summarized:

“Evidence regarding the effectiveness of non-medical face masks for the prevention of COVID-19 is scarce.”

“Experimental studies on non-medical face masks conducted in the laboratory show inconsistent results with large variability in their effectiveness.”

And finally, the European CDC estimated that mask effectiveness may be “small to moderate,” with “very low” certainty of evidence.

So do the masks that Dr. Fauci extol really work? Who knows? But Fauci might recommend them being used in 2022, even after vaccines are widespread.

Had enough yet?

I have, and I’m sure you have too. I’m tired of the media Coronabros pushing pandemic porn. I no longer want to hear Fauci telling me that I might have to wear a mask in 2022. And don’t tell me that “you just want to kill grandma!” since I wear a mask as little as possible. Hell, I am a grandmother, and yes, I have visited my grandkids who live across the country. Several times, in fact.

By continuing to promote Covid fears, Anthony Fauci is trying to maintain his relevance. He’s been basking in the glow of the spotlight since last spring, and he doesn’t want to let go of it now. That also means no more cover stories with InStyle magazine (“With all due modesty, I think I’m pretty effective”). And no more puff pieces in Vogue, either.

Plus, if the U.S. is indeed on the cusp of herd immunity in a few short weeks, as Dr. Makary suggests, then Fauci will lose any credibility he once held. His dire predictions would become fodder for his critics. Even worse, he would lose control over the American people.

All that would be anathema to a little man with the supersized ego like Anthony Fauci.
