1. California GOP leaders call for accountability after state can’t account for $24B spent on homeless crisis:
Fox News – California GOP leaders are calling for more accountability after an audit released earlier this week indicated that the state spent around $24 billion to tackle the homeless crisis over the past five years but did not consistently track whether the huge outlay of public money did anything to actually improve the problem.
The state auditor’s report found that despite roughly $24 billion spent on homeless and housing programs during the 2018-2023 fiscal years, the problem didn’t improve in many cities, according to the state auditor’s report.
Among other things, the report found that the California Interagency Council on Homelessness (Cal ICH), which is responsible for coordinating agencies and allocating resources for the homelessness programs, stopped tracking whether the programs were working in 2021.
Meanwhile in California!

Denny’s Insight: Asking California for accountability is like asking an addicted meth heroin user to put down the needle. It’ll never happen unless there’s true effort and most importantly, will.
2. White House announces another $7.4B in student debt relief:
Politico – The White House announced Friday it was wiping out another $7.4 billion in student loan debt for thousands of borrowers.
Roughly 277,000 student borrowers will benefit from the latest round of relief. A large chunk of the forgiveness — about $3.6 billion for 206,800 people — is for borrowers enrolled in the Biden administration’s new income-driven repayment plan known as SAVE.
Additionally, the department has waived $3.5 billion for 65,700 borrowers through administrative adjustments to IDR payments, and $300 million for 4,600 borrowers through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
Denny’s Insight: Any college graduate falling for this and not recognizing it as means to vote for Biden needs to return their degree.
3. Poll Report: Black Men’s Support For Trump Doubles In Swing States:
OANN – Support for former President Donald Trump among Black men in swing states has more than doubled. According to a poll published on Thursday by the Wall Street Journal, Trump’s support among Black men has increased in battleground states ahead of the 2024 election by more than double the support he had among the same demographic in the 2020 election.
The recent poll estimated that 30% of Black men in seven swing states, which include -Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin – “definitely or probably” plan to vote for Trump in the upcoming election.
This percentage is an 18% increase from his nationwide performance among that demographic in 2020.
The Wall Street Journal also reported that his support among Black women also increased to 11% from the 6% that it was in 2020.

Denny’s Insight: Love to see it! We have to keep the momentum going!
4. Trump Wants Debates Earlier, More Often to Preempt Early Voting:
Breitbart – The Trump campaign on Thursday demanded the debate commission to schedule debates early and often, citing the need to preempt early voting.
President Joe Biden is noncommittal about debating former President Donald Trump. Nearly three-fourths of voters believe if Biden skips the presidential debates, it shows “weakness,” a Fox News poll recently found.
Trump originally announced in March that he would happily confront Biden on his record, pledging to debate anytime, anywhere, and anyplace.
Denny’s Question: Do you see a debate happening between Trump and Biden for this election? Or is that idea totally foregone? Personally, I don’t see Biden committing to it whatsoever.
