A 25-year-old Massachusetts woman has been arrested in connection with the death of her 3-year-old son over the weekend.
Police were called to Jennifer Prudencio’s Chelsea apartment on Sunday for an unresponsive child.
The boy, Yael Guardado-Prudencio, was pronounced dead, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden.
Prudencio was arrested on Tuesday and charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment of a child.
“The death of someone so young is a tragedy beyond words,” the DA said. “My heart goes out to all who knew and loved this young boy, and to the police and emergency services personnel who responded to the scene that sad morning.”
Hayden said more information will be released when Prudencio is arraigned on Wednesday.
