On Sunday, Former Harvard University professor Alan Dershowitz claimed that anti-Israel protests on college campuses are similar to the early days of Nazi Germany, arguing that these “Hitler Youth” students could be America’s future leaders.
While speaking on 77 WABC’s “Cats Roundtable” radio show, Dershowitz said, “This is much like what happened in Germany in the early 1930s, when Nazi students blocked Jews from entering universities. This is a lot like the lead up to what happened in the 1940s.”
Dershowitz, a constitutional and civil rights lawyer, told host John Catsimatidis, “[During] Harvard graduation the other day, students walked out. Students wore Hamas-supportive garb. Students were on Hamas’s side. They are our future leaders.”
“What worries me is 10, 15 years from now, these Hitler Youth will be members of Congress, will be on the editorial board of the New York Times, will be owning media stations … and substitute their own radical progressive anti-American craziness for the stability that our Constitution calls for,” he continued.
Dershowitz has heavily criticized the protests, and told Catsimatidis that he plans to start a group called “hurt a Jew, we sue you.”
He also discussed James Carlson, a wealthy professional protestor with a long list of crimes and aliases, who reportedly led the violent protest at Columbia University, according to the New York Post. Dershowitz referred to him as a “longtime anarchist,” and argued that he should face legal consequences for his actions.
“It applies beyond Jews: The two janitors who were held captive, kidnapped by wealthy Columbia graduates and outsiders — like the kid who owns a $2 or $3 million home in Brooklyn — they should be sued and held responsible for what they’re doing,” he said. “We have to fight back.”
Dershowitz also argued that most colleges and universities are “going to hell,” over their imposition of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, and the deemphasis on merit in hiring and policies.
RTM previously reported that UCLA’s medical school, the David Geffen School of Medicine, which was among the most prestigious in the nation, revealed that 50% of their students failed basic tests. The school, once ranked sixth of its kind in the nation, is now ranked 18th.
According to reports, the school’s massive emphasis on DEI made it so that white and Asian students are discriminated against, while students of other races are effectively given a free pass.
One admission officer told the Washington Free Beacon: “All the normal criteria for getting into medical school only apply to people of certain races.”
“DEI — diversity, equity and inclusion — is antisemitic to its core and anti-intellectual and anti-progress and anti-meritocracy. The big enemy of the hard left today is meritocracy,” Dershowitz said.DEI programs across the nation are starting to be shuttered as they face more scrutiny. In the past several weeks, several major schools and universities, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill have eliminated their DEI programs, and others, such as Cornell University, are considering the same process.
