An investigation is underway into the death of a 15-year-old California girl who was found dead on Saturday, three days after her disappearance.
Jázmin Pellegrini was reportedly found lying face down in the driveway of a San Francisco home. Her family told KTVU that Pellegrini was released from a psychiatric hospital three hours before her April 17 disappearance and that she left home without her phone or money.
Pellegrini allegedly underwent mental health treatment for PTSD, bipolar disorder, and anxiety which stemmed from childhood sexual abuse. Her family told KTVU she had been hospitalized dozens of times in the years leading up to her death.
According to the news outlet, Pellegrini’s family suspects she was lured to the area and drugged.
Meanwhile, San Francisco police said there is no evidence of foul play. An autopsy, which is pending, could take up to 90 days to be completed.
According to reports, pedestrians walked past Pellegrini’s body until a man stopped and called for help. Paramedics briefly revived her but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation is ongoing.
