CENSORSHIP: Twitter Censors Brave Texas Lawmaker Who Told Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke to Come and Take It

The following article, CENSORSHIP: Twitter Censors Brave Texas Lawmaker Who Told Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke to Come and Take It, was first published on Big League Politics.

On September 12, 2019, Twitter deleted a tweet from State Representative Briscoe Cain’s account after he wrote that this “AR is ready” for former congressman Beto O’Rourke.

This came in response to O’Rourke’s remark where he said “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15s” when asked about his civilian disarmament plan.

According to The Hill, Twitter informed the news outlet that the tweet from Cain violated its rules concerning violent threats and subsequently had it removed early on Friday morning.

“The Tweet was in violation of the Twitter Rules, which prohibit violent threats,” a Twitter spokesperson claimed.

Replying to O’Rourke’s call for AR-15 confiscations, Cain said,“My AR is ready for you Robert Francis.”

The former congressman from El Paso replied by declaring that Cain’s tweet was a “death threat.”

He then added, “Clearly, you shouldn’t own an AR-15—and neither should anyone else.”

Cain got the final word by calling O’Rourke “a child.”

Following the CNN debate, O’Rourke lauded Twitter for deleting a tweet from someone “with a weapon of war threatening to use it against somebody who is talking about gun violence in this country.”

A spokesperson for O’Rourke claimed that his campaign reported the post to the FBI.

“Anytime you have somebody threatening to use violence against somebody in this country to resolve a political issue — or really for any reason — that’s a matter for law enforcement,” O’Rourke commented.

Big League Politics has reached out to Cain for his take on the situation.

Since the El Paso mass shooting, gun politics has become heated in the Lone Star State.

With O’Rourke’s radicalism and the Texas GOP’s softening stance on guns, many gun activists fear that the state’s gun laws could be changing for the worst in the next few years.

The growing cultural acceptance of civilian disarmament and Texas’s changing electoral demographics make the threat of gun control a harsh reality in the near future.
