WATCH: Trump Ally Kris Kobach Promises To Build The Wall, Slams Illegal Immigration to Launch Senate Campaign

The following article, WATCH: Trump Ally Kris Kobach Promises To Build The Wall, Slams Illegal Immigration to Launch Senate Campaign, was first published on Big League Politics.

Kris Kobach, a Republican Senate candidate in Kansas, came out hard against illegal immigration and stressed the importance of finishing the border wall between the United States and Mexico, while also explaining why he believes he will hold the Kansas Senate seat come 2020.

“We’ve got a situation on the southern border that’s unsustainable, we’ve got attacks on our Constitution, and in those two areas I have a lot of expertise,” said Kobach on One America News. “I’ve been working on stopping illegal immigration for the last 20 years, I’ve been advising President Trump on this.”

Kobach, who announced his candidacy last week, explained in the One America News Network interview that he already has direct experience building the border wall due to his current position with We Build The Wall, the campaign that started with a viral GoFundMe page and raised over a million dollar for the purpose of crowd sourcing the wall.

“I’m senior counsel to We Build the Wall, in house counsel, and that’s an organization where we’re actually building a private wall on the border right now,” said Kobach. “Literally, I have experience building the wall.”

He also stressed that he is well versed on illegal immigration, and does not need a policy expert or a worker to convince him the wall needs to be built.

“I have a lot of experience on immigration,” said Kobach. “I don’t need a legislative worker to tell me what laws need to be changed.”

The candidate also hopes, if elected, he would serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee, and help President Trump appoint conservative, pro-Constitution Supreme Court Justices.

The Republican establishment is currently brow beating Kobach, and attempting to persuade him to call off his promising campaign in favor of current Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. They cite Kobach’s recent gubernatorial election loss as proof he should not run for office, though as this Kansas-based journalist can confirm, Kansas has a complicated history with gubernatorial elections.

Kobach explained that “A lot of people in Washignton, D.C. don’t understand the really interesting history of Kansas politics. Since 1932, Kansas has had a Republican streak. We’ve never lost a Senate race to the Democrats, so Senate races go very well for Kansas Republicans.”

He added, “But in the governor races, we’ve lost half of them for the past 54 years. It’s been alternating Republican to Democrat for the past 54 years.”

The candidate also explained that he was victim to a massive smear campaign, as was former Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, in which Democrats claimed Republicans wanted to pull funding for Kansas schools.

Kobach declared his candidacy last week, in what is quickly looking like a competitive and large race for the open Senate seat.

Big League Politics reported:

“Kris is a real tough candidate to beat in a primary in Kansas,” said Kansas state Rep. J.R. Claeys, who served as Kobach’s campaign manager when he ran unsuccessfully for governor last year. “I think a lot of people respond to the consistency with which he’s fought for conservative values.”

The GOP establishment is already trying to monger fear against Kobach and keep a real ‘America First’ patriot who would be a great ally of Trump out of the U.S. Senate.

“Just last year Kris Kobach ran and lost to a Democrat,” said Joanna Rodriguez, spokeswoman for the National Republican Senatorial Campaign committee. “Now, he wants to do the same and simultaneously put President Trump’s presidency and Senate Majority at risk. We know Kansans won’t let that happen and we look forward to watching the Republican candidate they do choose win next fall.”

Kobach, who aligns himself closely to President Trump and his policies, is running for the newly vacated Senate seat in Kansas that is currently held by retiring Sen. Pat Roberts.
