Three men who had previously been deported from the United States after child molestation convictions were arrested this week trying to re-enter the country at the southern border.
“In the most recent arrest, agents at the Sarita checkpoint between Brownsville and Corpus Christi took a Salvadoran man into custody Wednesday as he tried to skirt the border checkpoint through thick brush. They ran a record check and discovered he had been arrested by Dallas police on suspicion of aggravated sexual assault of a minor,” said a Dallas News report.
According to the report, a second man was arrested Tuesday attempting to cross the border near Mission, Texas where a background check showed that he had been arrested in the state for indecency with a child, for which he served three years in prison.
Finally, a third man was arrested Tuesday afternoon near Brownsville, Texas. He had been convicted in South Carolina for criminal sexual conduct with a minor, resulting in a 12 year prison sentence.
None of the men were named by police.
The fact that three illegal men with past convictions for child sex crimes attempted to re-enter the country in separate incidents, but during the same week, highlights not only the problem with illegal reentry, but also the prominence of sex crimes committed by illegals.
