Every great magic show relies on misdirection – the audience watches the right hand while the left hand does the real work. For decades, Americans have watched protests erupt across their cities, seemingly spontaneous outbursts of anger, never quite seeing the financial strings that animate these performances.
But sometimes, even the most skilled puppeteer drops his mask.
The name George Soros has become synonymous with left-wing activism in America. Through his Open Society Foundations and a web of affiliated organizations, the 95-year-old billionaire has poured billions into progressive causes, from district attorney races to immigration advocacy.
His son Alex has eagerly taken up the family business, recently marrying Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton’s longtime aide, cementing his place in the Democratic establishment – because apparently that’s what passes for a power couple these days.
For years, conservative voices have pointed to suspicious patterns; how protests seem to materialize with professional signs, coordinated messaging, and well-funded bail funds. They’ve asked who pays for the buses, the organizers, the infrastructure of outrage. These questions were dismissed as conspiracy theories by mainstream media, but the evidence has become impossible to ignore.
Now, President Trump has moved from asking questions to demanding answers. In a Truth Social post Wednesday, he called for federal racketeering charges against both Soroses:
From ‘Truth Social’:
George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America. That includes his Crazy, West Coast friends. Be careful, we’re watching you!
Following the Money Trail
The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) isn’t just for mob bosses anymore. Trump’s invocation of RICO suggests he sees organized criminal activity in the funding and coordination of violent protests. It’s a serious allegation, though let’s be honest, we’ve all been thinking it.
The Open Society Foundations immediately fired back, calling the accusations “outrageous and false” and insisting they “do not support or fund violent protests.” They claimed to stand for – wait for it – “fundamental freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution, including the rights to free speech and peaceful protest.”
But this isn’t happening in isolation. The Trump administration has opened investigations into several political opponents, including special counsel Jack Smith and former national security adviser John Bolton.
FBI agents even searched Bolton’s home last week. The Justice Department is reportedly investigating New York Attorney General Letitia James, who brought civil fraud charges against Trump.
Time for Accountability
Here’s what makes this different: we’re finally seeing someone willing to follow the money wherever it leads. For too long, billionaires have operated above the law, their wealth insulating them from the consequences that would destroy ordinary Americans. They fund chaos in our communities while living in gated compounds, sponsor soft-on-crime prosecutors while hiring private security.
The media will frame this as Trump attacking his enemies, but maybe it’s simpler than that. Maybe it’s about one standard of justice for everyone (crazy idea, I know) – whether you’re a street-level rioter or the one signing the checks.
If there’s evidence of funding violent protests, shouldn’t we investigate? If RICO applies to street gangs, why not to political networks that organize destruction?
We’ve watched our cities burn while being told it’s “mostly peaceful” – as if we don’t have eyes. We’ve seen the same faces at different protests across the country. We know someone’s paying the bills. Perhaps it’s time we found out who.

• Trump demands RICO charges against George and Alex Soros for allegedly funding violent protests
• The billionaire’s Open Society Foundations denies supporting violence while defending “peaceful protest”
